Chef Matthew Batey ignited his culinary spark at a young age, starting with an apprenticeship at the Fairmont Empress Hotel in Victoria, to then being recruited to open one of Canada’s best restaurants of 2002, Catch. After his tenure at Catch, Chef Batey joined the celebrated kitchen of Chef Bruno Marti, then went on to The Terrance Restaurant at Mission Hill Family Estate. Batey returned to Calgary in 2014 to develop and open The Nash & Off Cut Bar in the trendy Inglewood neighbourhood. Inspired by the prestige of the brand and timeless commitment to quality,Batey joined the iconic Teatro Group in 2017 as the Corporate Executive Chef. He now leads a dynamic team across seven properties, is as a champion of regional cuisine in Western Canada, and a proud mentor to a new generation of cooking talent. Winning a silver medal at the Canadian Culinary Championships in 2016, award-winning Chef Batey is creating his own legacy, continuously adding purpose and value to the lives of others through honest leadership and fine cuisine.
