As a passionate amateur chef Barrie began a more serious journey into the culinary world in 2017 when he was invited to cook in the Culinary Competition Series MasterChef Canada where he finished in 3rd place.  Through the competition Barrie won more challenges than any competitor in any season receiving high praise from the judges for the dishes he created.

His experience in the MasterChef Canada kitchen encouraged Barrie to continue his culinary journey and start his own Culinary Company “The Bear Cooks”.   The focus of Barrie’s cuisine is on seasonal, local, sustainable ingredients that are treated with respect and his philosophy is that every memorable event starts and ends with food that is cooked with love
