BC Agriculture and Food Export Program Intake

We are pleased to announce the next intake of the BC Agriculture and Food Export Program, a province-wide marketing program aimed at increasing sales, reducing market risk, and enhancing the long-term sustainability of B.C.’s agriculture, food and beverage exporters.

B.C.’s food and beverage producers, processors and industry associations can now apply for project funding from this Program. The Program provides cost-shared funding to undertake market development activities outside of B.C., enabling sector businesses and associations to maintain, expand and/or diversify export markets. The Program is a part of B.C.’s Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership programming; a five-year, $3.5B investment by federal-provincial-territorial governments, to strengthen and grow the agriculture and food sector. Funding is administered on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food by MNP LLP (‘Program Management’).

Applications will be accepted under this new intake starting January 8, 2024, up until 16:00 PST on February 2, 2024.

Buy BC Partnership Program Application Intake

The Buy BC Partnership Program application intake will open and accept applications from January 8 to February 2, 2024.

Program Details

The Buy BC Partnership Program continues to provide up to $2 million in cost-shared funding annually to B.C. producers, processors, and industry associations to support their ability to undertake marketing activities that increase consumer awareness and sales of local agriculture, food, and beverage products within B.C.

Eligible activities under the Program include, paid advertising, labelling or packaging with a Buy BC logo, marketing collateral and promotional materials, B.C. focused market development tradeshows and sales expositions, and B.C. focused in-store demonstrations and promotions.

(NEW) This year, the program will hold two application intakes for producers, processors, and cooperatives to deliver shorter projects, and one application intake for industry associations, boards, and councils.

Sustainable Tourism and Climate Adaptation Planning

Project One of the BC Tourism Climate Resiliency Initiative (BCTCRI)Facilitated Sustainable Tourism and Climate Adaptation Planning for Tourism Businesses provides free, tailored support to tourism businesses looking to incorporate environmental sustainability or climate adaptation measures into their operations. An experienced program advisor and supporting experts will work with tourism businesses to develop a sustainability and climate adaptation road map and perform detailed assessments to identify the most impactful, customized measures for climate resiliency.

Extreme Weather Preparedness for Agriculture Application Window

The Extreme Weather Preparedness for Agriculture (EWP) Program invites farm and ranch businesses to apply for a new provincial cost-share funding opportunity that aims to increase farm-level climate resilience to extreme weather events.

Funding for the first intake is available under four streams:

Applications will be accepted through the IAF Client Portal starting on January 23, 2024, on an ongoing basis until funds are fully committed. Project start date is April 1, 2024. All projects must be completed by or before March 14, 2025.

Tourism Digital Academy

The Tourism Digital Academy is a free, eight-week digital marketing program for BC tourism businesses that want to build their knowledge and skills in digital marketing to an intermediate level. From setting goals to building a better understanding of SEO, website usability, content, email marketing, and analytics, the program instills confidence and knowledge so participants can put their plans into action. The next winter intake starts January 23 and runs until March 13, with a live session taking place weekly. There are still spaces available, so register today!

Pour More BC experienced a successful 2023, showcasing impressive results. Our Best BC Wine Restaurants webpage emerged as the top performer on WineBC.com (from May 1 to Sep 30, 2023). This page also boasts a remarkably high conversion rate, indicating that users not only visit our page but also proceed to click through to your restaurants, potentially leading to new reservations. We launched a comprehensive advertising campaign from May to December 2023, encouraging wine and food lovers to visit your best BC Wine Restaurant across Meta, Twitter (X), Google Display and YouTube and Tiktok. We also worked with Mijune Pak, a respected and recognized food and travel blogger to highlight the Pour More BC restaurant list visiting 3 wine regions and several restaurants this fall. In total we reached 5.4 million consumers and engaged with 146K.

NEW INITIATIVE:

New for this year in our Pour More BC program we will be promoting restaurants that offer unique BC Wine Dinner or BC Winemakers experiences. As part of incentivizing these restaurants to host these events, we will be sharing a list of preferred BC winery partners.
