Millstone Estate Winery

Cool climate wines grown and produced on Vancouver Island, in Nanaimo, the harbour city. A 5 min drive from Departure Bay ferry. With the Pacific Coast less then 6 miles away a maritime influence results in wines with bright acidity, precise fruit and minerality.

6 acres are planted on the estate farm, where we farm Ortega, Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir, and fruit trees. The vines were planted in 2001. A small lot of the production comes from the interior, the Okanagan. We either use the grapes from the interior to blend, or we occasionally do a single varietal like a Cabernet Franc, or Syrah. We not only grow wine, but also vegetables, fruits and herbs for ourselves, and our soon to be outdoor kitchen.

The winery opened its doors in 2009, in our post and beam building that was built from the ground up. The wine shop is on the main floor adjacent to our production facility, and it welcomes you with a large patio area for those beautiful summer days where we welcome everyone with live music on weekends. The newly-built kitchen(soon to be open) is just off the patio, featuring a comfortable gathering place for you to enjoy views of the vineyard, and sit by the fire pit. Families will want to stay and play.
