Chef Josh Stoddart
Muriettas Josh Stoddart began his life in the restaurant industry making fresh pasta at Oodles, his family’s restaurant, when he was eleven years old. Since then, Stoddart has become a devoted restaurateur, qualified sommelier, inventive entrepreneur, award-winning chef, and one of Canada’s top shellfish shuckers. Always at home in a busy kitchen, Stoddart has been at the helm in some of Western Canada’s finest. He apprenticed at Calgary’s Il Sogno and Capo, was Sous Chef at Salt Spring Island’s Harbour House, and returned to Alberta to become Executive Chef at Sugo. In 2016, Stoddart and his partner Amelia opened one of Calgary’s most exciting new pizza restaurant. Full Circle Pizza and Oyster Bar, with its critically acclaimed menu and great reviews, entered the restaurant market when Calgarians were suffering from an economic downturn, and the venture was short-lived. However, Stoddart was soon scooped up by Dave Bohati at Teatro. Bohati and Stoddart moved together to Murrieta’s, where Stoddart is currently Chef de Cuisine. Stoddart assisted Dave Bohati in winning first place for the 2018 Great Canadian Kitchen Party and Bronze for the 2019 Canadian Culinary Championships. He also won the Rocky Mountain Shellfish Festival in 2017 and 2018 and teamed with Dave Bohati for the Bronze prize at 2017’s Gold Medal Plates. He currently lives in Calgary with his wife, two young children, a dog, a cat, and a couple of guinea pigs.
