In the late 1900s, the Okanagan Valley started growing Vinifera grapes as it was discovered that the region’s unique microclimate was largely suitable for winemaking. The Okanagan Valley is a distinctive winegrowing region because it is nestled between the Coast Mountains to the West and the Monashee Mountains to the East. The rain shadow that results from this formation yields very low rainfall annually. Moreover, there is a large diurnal range. During the growing seasons, the Okanagan sunshine is extended up to 2 hours each day in the daytime and temperatures drop significantly in the night time. This diurnal range allows the Vinifera grapes to preserve aromas, freshness, and acidity while developing sugar. We place great emphasis in our vineyard management as it is in the fruits that are cultivated that complement the winemaking process.
