Feedback Session – Temporary Farm Worker Housing

You are invited to provide feedback in one of three sessions regarding proposed updates to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food’s Minister’s Bylaw Standard on Temporary Farm Worker Housing (TFWH) in the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR).

Context for the sessions:

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food (the Ministry) develops Minister’s Bylaw Standards (MBSs) to guide local governments that are developing and amending bylaws affecting farming areas. These standards are contained within the Guide to Bylaw Development in Farming Areas and the Guide to Edge Planning. The primary aims of the MBSs are to help reduce unnecessary restrictions on farming operations, minimize conflict between agriculture and neighbouring uses, and to improve consistency in regulations across local government jurisdiction.

Background:

In 2009, the Ministry created an MBS on TFWH in the ALR. Industry and legislative changes over the past fifteen years have resulted in a need to update the standards. Ministry staff have developed a discussion paper, which will be walked through in the sessions, to guide the consultation process for the update.

Input requested:

This project is seeking input from the agriculture industry. As a valued stakeholder, the Ministry invites you to participate in one of the three upcoming drop-in Zoom sessions to learn more and share your thoughts.  There is no need to register for the sessions and please feel free to invite any colleagues who may be interested.
