BC GOVERNMENT PROCLAIMS APRIL AS BC WINE MONTH – TIME TO SIP, SAVOUR & CELEBRATE LOCAL

March 25, 2025 / by: Wines of British Columbia

British Columbia – April is BC Wine Month, a time to explore, sip, and savour exceptional British Columbia wine. Wine Growers British Columbia (WGBC) invites you to embrace the season and celebrate BC wine all month long by discovering the fresh flavours of new releases and experiencing the warm hospitality of BC winery tasting rooms.

Now in it’s eighth year, BC Wine Month has been officially proclaimed by the BC government, recognizing the vital role BC’s wine industry plays in the province’s economy, tourism, and culture.

“This April we celebrate BC Wine Month to recognize the hard-working people in the wine and hospitality sectors who create memorable experiences for British Columbians and visitors from around the world that come to BC to enjoy the high-quality wines and delicious flavours that reflect our province’s unique terroirs,” said Lana Popham, BC’s Minister of Agriculture and Food. “More British Columbians and Canadians from across the country are choosing to explore BC wines and winery destinations which is supporting grape growers, winemakers, and winery operations, and increasing the market exposure of our innovative and exceptional wines.”

This year’s BC Wine Month campaign takes a nostalgic twist, capturing the excitement of spring in BC wine country with playful polaroids and a heartfelt note to ‘Dear April,’. As the season unfolds with warmer days and sun-bathed vineyard landscapes, it’s the perfect time to embrace everything BC wine country has to offer.

Businesses within and connected to the BC wine industry will be jumping in to show their love of BC wine and join the celebration.

“We’ve encouraged BC wineries, restaurants, retailers, and industry partners to join us in celebrating April is BC Wine Month,” said Kim Barnes, Marketing Director, Wine Growers BC. “Wineries are a vibrant and welcoming part of BC’s tourism landscape, inviting both locals and visitors to explore, taste, and discover the best of our region. We are excited to see the conversations, special offers, and resulting spotlight shone on BC wine country as we kick off the spring and summer season.”

BC Wine Month is a celebration of all things BC wine, including new 2024 vintage releases: BC VQA wines, 100% BC wines, and, for a limited time, Crafted in BC wines produced under the 2024 vintage relief and support program.

“BC VQA wines remain the foundation of our industry, representing the highest standard of quality. At the same time, every BC wine has a story, and the 2024 vintage is certainly one to share,” said Laura Kittmer, Communications Director, WGBC. “BC Wine Month is an opportunity to celebrate everything our passionate BC wineries bring to the table—exceptional wines, unforgettable experiences, and the dedication behind every bottle.”
