Canadian Wine Industry Remembers David Wilson
October 16, 2020, Ottawa, ON — The Canadian wine industry is deeply saddened by the news of the passing of David Wilson, who served as Board member of the British Columbia Wine Institute (BCWI) from 2013 – 2019. David also served as the Chair of the Canadian Vintners Association (CVA) and Vice President, Finance and Business Development at Mark Anthony Group. David passed away on October 8th, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.
“David was the consummate finance executive who understood the nuances of the wine industry business,” said Miles Prodan, President and CEO, BC Wine Institute. “He brought a perspective to the BCWI board that will be missed, as will his enthusiasm and dedication to the BC wine industry.”
“David brought extreme passion and skills of practical management experience touching on most aspects of the wine and retail industry to his role of chair of the CVA” said Dan Paszkowski, President and CEO.
David joined the Canadian Vintners Association (CVA), now known as Wine Growers Canada, Board of Directors in 2016 and served as Chair of the CVA from 2017- 2019.
“David successfully saw the industry through critical policy files, such as the renegotiation of NAFTA, and helped to lead the industry through the CVA’s lobbying efforts on repealing the annual indexation on the excise tax. David was smart, humble, and incredibly dedicated to his work, his passion will be missed by many,” said Paszkowski.
