Experience BC’s Perfect Pairings in Whistler

October 22, 2013 / by: Darren

October 22, 2013 (Kelowna, BC) – The British Columbia Wine Institute (BCWI) is excited to bring the Perfect Pairings program to Whistler as part of Cornucopia Whistler’s Celebration of Wine & Food. On Saturday, November 9, Sidecut at the Four Seasons Resort Whistler will host six local chefs and 13 of BC’s best wineries combining to create a delicious evening of Perfect Pairings.

Following successful sold-out events in Vancouver and Kelowna, Experience BC’s Perfect Pairings at Sidecut marks the third of four province-wide Perfect Pairing dinners. Sidecut Executive Chef Tory Martindale and guest chefs Matthew Batey (Mission Hill Family Estate Winery, West Kelowna), Trevor Bird (Fable Restaurant, Vancouver), Jeff Van Geest (Miradoro Restaurant at Tinhorn Creek Vineyards, Oliver), Daniel Hudson (Hudson’s on First, Duncan) and Chris Whittaker (Forage, Vancouver) will create an unforgettable menu thoughtfully paired with BC VQA wines selected by renowned Vancouver-based sommelier and wine educator DJ Kearney. Guests will be joined by the following wineries: Bella, Dessert Hills Estate Winery, Fort Berens Estate Winery, Haywire Winery, Jackson-Triggs Okanagan Estate, Lake Breeze Vineyards, Mission Hill Family Estate Winery, Nk’Mip Cellars, Osoyoos Larose, Stoneboat Vineyards, Therapy Vineyards, Tinhorn Creek Vineyards and Wild Goose Vineyards and Winery.

“We are excited to bring this unparalleled wine and food experience to Whistler this fall,” explains BC Wine Institute President Miles Prodan. “This program is meant to provide guests with amazing “Buy Local” culinary experiences and, with six talented local chefs and 13 top BC wineries, guests will get a true taste of British Columbia’s bounty.”

About the Wines of British Columbia Perfect Pairings Program

The Wines of British Columbia Perfect Pairings program showcases quality BC VQA wines paired with foods that are locally grown, raised and caught right here in BC. It is truly a showcase of the best British Columbia has to offer.

Funding support provided, in part, by the BC Government’s Buy Local Program; delivered by the Investment Agriculture Foundation of BC with funding from the Ministry of Agriculture.

About British Columbia Wine Institute

Since 1990, the BCWI has played a pivotal role in taking BC’s wine industry from a vision to an internationally recognized niche region producing premium wines and providing quality wine tourism experiences.

Representing 137 member wineries throughout the province, the BCWI supports and markets the Wines of British Columbia (BC VQA), which gives consumers assurance they are buying a wine that is made from 100% BC grapes. The BCWI also markets the Wine Regions of British Columbia; delivers quality trade, media and consumer tastings; and acts as the voice of BC’s wine industry by advocating to government on behalf of its members.
