KELOWNA, BC (April 18, 2018) – The British Columbia Wine Institute (BCWI) is looking forward to this week’s ruling by the Supreme Court of Canada on the case “R v Comeau”, which challenges current restrictions on interprovincial trade. Unfair interprovincial trade barriers have harmed Canada’s wine industry and prevented consumers from purchasing the Canadian wines of their choice. The ruling could lead to winery direct-to-consumer wine sales across the country, leading to important growth for BC’s highest value agricultural industry. Representatives from the BCWI will be available for media interviews following the release of the Supreme Court of Canada ruling on R v Comeau (interprovincial trade case).
