The Wines of British Columbia honoured at London’s celebrated International Wine and Spirit Competition

November 24, 2011 (Kelowna, BC) The Wines of British Columbia are being recognized once again by the world’s top wine competition, having received over 100 awards including the trophy for ‘Best Dessert Wine’.

At the awards banquet held on November 16, Mission Hill Family Estate Winery was given the prestigious title of ‘Canadian Wine Producer of the Year’ having received 20 awards, including 2 Gold – Best in Class nods for their 2005 Select Lot Collection Riesling Icewine and 2009 Reserve Riesling Icewine.

Jackson-Triggs Okanagan Estate, also a finalist for the Canadian Wine Producer of the Year with an impressive 12 medals, was recognized at the banquet as well, receiving the trophy for ‘Best Dessert Wine’ for the second year in a row for their 2007 Proprietors’ Reserve Riesling Icewine.

BC Wine Institute Executive Director, Miles Prodan is excited to see such prominent international recognition. “The International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) recognizes the best of the best in the wine world and we are so proud of all the local winners. These awards truly demonstrate the outstanding quality of the Wines of British Columbia.”
