Wine Growers British Columbia welcomes new members to their Board of Directors
Kelowna, British Columbia – Wine Growers British Columbia (WGBC) held its Annual General Meeting virtually on September 7, 2022, welcoming new members to the Board of Directors. The Board comprises of nine voting WGBC Directors representing all British Columbia wineries.
The newly elected or re-elected members of the Board of Directors are:
Continuing their directorships are, reappointed as Chair, Christa-Lee McWatters (TIME Family of Wines), Vice-Chair, Josh Stewart (Arterra Wines Canada), Paul Sawler (Dirty Laundry Vineyard), Erin Korpisto (Stag’s Hollow Winery), Charlie Baessler (Corcelettes Estate Winery) and Greg Berti (Andrew Peller). BC Grapegrowers’ Association representative Felix Egerer and WGBC CEO & President Miles Prodan continue as ex officio non-voting members.
“This year has been another busy and challenging year in the BC wine industry, and the commitment and dedication of our volunteer Board of Directors and committee members has been exceptional,” said Prodan. “While we are still in the process of understanding and quantifying the lasting impact of the pandemic, we look forward to working with our new and continuing Board members to grow back stronger and achieve meaningful results for the continued success of the BC wine industry.”
WGBC would like to thank outgoing members Leo Gebert (St. Hubertus & Oak Bay Winery), and Dapinder Gill (Kismet Estate Winery) for their contributions to the Board and wish all of BC wine country a fruitful harvest season.
The Wine BC 2030 Long-Term Strategic Plan is a visionary roadmap central to the future growth, vitality, and profitability of the BC wine industry. WGBC uses the plan as a guide in the development of their operational objectives each year.

Wine Growers BC Board Director Appointment
Following the recent resignation of medium winery-nominated director Darryl Brooker, the WGBC board appointed Chris Turyk, Director of Marketing & Sales, Unsworth Vineyards as interim director until the next Annual General Meeting.
In addition to being the first WGBC director from Vancouver Island, Chris is passionate about the growth of the Cowichan Valley and through the success of the business attracted international attention with the sale of the family winery to Barbara Banke and Julia Jackson, proprietors of Jackson Family Wines. Chris and his father Tim continue to manage Unsworth and build the reputation of Cowichan Valley wines with the rest of the Unsworth team.
