WINES OF BRITISH COLUMBIA AND BC CHEESE ARE THE PERFECT PAIRING THIS HOLIDAY SEASON
BRITISH COLUMBIA – The BC Wine Institute has teamed up with the BC Dairy Association to feature perfect local wine and cheese pairings this holiday season. The holiday campaign aims to promote the spirit of the festive season while keeping local top-of-mind with consumers and inspiring them to explore BC wines and year-round wine touring experiences through the Wines of BC Explorer app.
The holiday campaign titled, Aged by Time, Perfected by Wine, will promote BC wine paired with BC cheese through promotions featured in Save-On-Foods stores. Fun and educational infographics will help consumers indulge in their own wine and cheese tasting experience complemented by featured recipes and pairings on WineBC.com. Wine lovers will also be directed to the Wines of BC Explorer app where they can access winery direct free shipping to BC residents and après ski routes, highlighting local wineries and experiences open for ski season.
“Our focus this year has really been on supporting local and we want to keep that trend going throughout the holiday season,” says Kim Barnes, Marketing Director, BC Wine Institute. “The goal of this campaign is to keep the “support local” message strong and top-of-mind with consumers, while supporting local families and farmers.”
With more than 284 wineries producing beautifully crafted whites, reds, rosés and sparkling wines, and more than 25 artisan cheesemakers located all over the province, BC offers a wide variety of incredible wine selections and delicious, locally made cheeses made even better when enjoyed together. Combined, BC’s cheesemakers make more than 100 different types of cheese, showcasing local takes on beloved styles, from brie to gouda to blue. Perfectly paired with some of BC’s most planted red and white grapes; Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Gris and Riesling to name just a few.
“We’re excited to partner with the BC Wine Institute to support and showcase our local producers while keeping the collective industry strong,” said Jennifer Woron, Director of Marketing, BC Dairy Association. “BC cheesemakers use milk from almost 500 dairy farms across the province, so by supporting local cheesemakers, you are also supporting dairy farmers who are proud to create products that feed families and inspire people to cook and eat together.”
While the holidays may look a little different this year, wine and cheese lovers alike can still pair up safely and support local producers by choosing local BC wine and cheese for the perfect holiday paring.
