BRITISH COLUMBIA – The British Columbia Wine Institute (BCWI) launches its Explore BC VQA Wine campaign in Sobeys Liquor & Safeway Wine & Spirits stores, encouraging wine consumers to experience BC’s diverse wine regions, support Wines of British Columbia this holiday season, and enter to win a BC VQA Wine tour experience.
Sobeys Liquor & Safeway Wine & Spirits stores across the province are raising the BC flag by featuring BC VQA – 100 per cent BC wine and displays in their stores.
“We are excited to be launching this holiday campaign with Sobeys Liquor & Safeway Wine & Spirits stores, to promote the depth of variety and authentic quality of BC VQA Wine and the unique wine regions that can be enjoyed year-round,” explains Kim Barnes, BC Wine Institute Marketing Director. “Through this campaign, we are reaching Alberta wine consumers to inspire them to support their neighbouring grapegrowers and winemakers, and drive the message that when you choose a BC VQA Wine, you are enjoying a product that is 100 per cent grown and made in British Columbia.”
“At Sobeys Liquor & Safeway Wine & Spirits Alberta, we are very passionate about BC VQA Wines and celebrate the tremendous quality and value that these wines represent. We share this passion with our customers through education and advertising that promote a true sense of discovery for new wine drinkers,” notes Pierre E. Corriveau, Category Manager of Sobeys/Safeway Liquor.
In addition to the displays in Sobeys Liquor & Safeway Wine & Spirits stores, the BCWI is running its Explore BC VQA Wine and Win contest on Instagram and Twitter with a chance to win an #ExploreBCWine getaway to BC Wine Country. This holiday prize package includes flights, accommodation and winery experiences for two to discover winter in BC Wine Country over three days and two nights.
From now through January 8, 2017, people can enter for a chance to win the #ExploreBCWine winter tour experience package by sharing an image of their favourite BC wine experience or newly discovered BC VQA Wine on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #ExploreBCWine.
Harvest time is wrapping up for what many claim is BC’s best vintage ever, and more wineries are staying open this holiday season. “For those who are passionate about BC wine, winter can be one of the best times to visit wine country,” says Barnes. “The busy tasting rooms have given way to quiet spaces where in-depth tastings can take place and visitors have the opportunity to spend more time getting to know the wines, the winery and the people behind the wine.”
