WINE GROWERS BRITISH COLUMBIA ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS
British Columbia: Wine Growers British Columbia (WGBC) hosted its Annual General Meeting virtually on September 9, 2025. The meeting opened with a special address from the Honourable Lana Popham, Minister of Agriculture and Food, who spoke live to BC winery proprietors and operators.
“This industry means so much to me. I’ve seen the incredible value BC wineries offer, from world-class wines to unforgettable visitor experiences,” said Minister Popham. “While the past seasons have brought real challenges, this year’s strong growing season shows your resilience and determination. My goal is to support your success and help share the story of an industry that continues to overcome obstacles and move forward stronger than ever.”
The Minister’s remarks set a strong tone of optimism and support for the industry as members turned to the formal business of the AGM, including the election of directors. This year’s election saw one nominee per winery size category, with each elected by acclamation:
- Small Winery Category: Michael Bartier, Bartier Bros. Vineyards
- Medium Winery Category: Mark Sheridan, Hester Creek Estate Winery
- Large Winery Category: Samantha Collins, Mission Hill Family Estate
They join directors continuing their tenure Vince Ong (Andrew Peller), Josh Stewart (Arterra Wines Canada), Angela Lyons (Quails’ Gate Family Estate), Paul Sawler (Dirty Laundry Vineyard), Lauren Skinner-Buksevics (Painted Rock Estate Winery), and Mike Dowell (Liber Farm and Winery).
WGBC would like to extend its sincere thanks to Adam Woodward of Privato Winery & Vineyard, who concluded his term on the Board this year. Adam’s leadership, collaboration, and steadfast dedication to the advancement of BC wine have been invaluable.
“I’m excited to begin my first full year as CEO working alongside such a strong Board of Directors,” said Jeff Guignard, President & CEO, WGBC. “This team brings deep experience, fresh perspectives, and a shared commitment to strengthening the resilience and reputation of BC wine. Together, we’ll continue building momentum for our industry, supporting our members, and sharing the story of 100% BC wine with the world.”
The WGBC Board of Directors provides strategic guidance and oversight on behalf of its members, ensuring the organization remains focused on opportunities for growth, innovation, and advocacy while advancing the long-term goals of the Wine BC 2030 Strategic Plan. Wine Growers BC thanks all members who participated in this year’s AGM and looks forward to another year of collaboration, growth, and achievement for BC wine.
