BRITISH COLUMBIA – It’s beginning to look a lot like the holiday season and what better way to celebrate than by embracing home and buying local. The Wines of British Columbia launched its 2019 holiday campaign this week, inviting locals and visitors to get a “Taste of Home for the Holidays” by choosing BC VQA Wine and locally sourced cheeses for the perfect holiday pairing.

“As an industry, we want to celebrate what makes our region so incredibly special. Working together with our retail partners, this campaign aims to promote local wine and food, and encourage consumers to discover the world-class wines produced right here at home,” says Miles Prodan, President and CEO, British Columbia Wine Institute.

Perfectly paired BC VQA Wine and cheese suggestions can be found on WineBC.com now until January 1, 2020. The campaign takes the guesswork out of holiday entertaining while promoting local wine and food, complementing any festive gathering or event this holiday season.

“A Taste of Home for the Holidays” promotional materials can be seen in local BC VQA stores, Save-On-Foods and other private liquor stores. A digital marketing campaign will help further promote and encourage consumers to make BC VQA Wine part of their holiday festivities.

“Save-On-Foods is all about community and supporting our local growers, suppliers and winemakers is something we are very passionate about,” says Darrell Jones, President, Save-On-Foods. “We’re happy to promote this campaign because it gives our customers the opportunity to explore the Wines of British Columbia, and to support the incredible winemakers in our province.”
“Participating in a campaign such as this raises awareness of our store and the local BC VQA Wines that we carry. The in-store displays educate our customers on BC’s wine regions, winery locations and wine pairings. They also inspire our customers to visit wine country, try local wine at restaurants and bring BC VQA Wine home with them,” says Lesley Saito, Manager/Sommelier, Okanagan Estate Wine Cellar.
As part of the holiday campaign, the Wines of British Columbia are offering early bird pricing on Chef Meets BC Grape 2020 event tickets taking place in Vancouver, Victoria and Calgary. Tickets include small plates prepared by top chefs from renowned local restaurants paired with BC VQA Wines  ̶  a perfect gift for the wine and food lover on your list.

Plus, stay tuned for a very special Santa Jilly’s 12 Days of Christmas with Jillian Harris! This year the Wines of British Columbia, Tourism Kelowna and Save-On-Foods are working together with Team Jilly to help spoil you. Starting December 1st, a new giveaway will be revealed each day at 10am PST until December 18th. Follow Wines of British Columbia and Jillian Harris on Instagram, and good luck!
