Vinos Wine Film Festival comes to Whistler’s Cornucopia
October 17, 2012 (Kelowna, BC) – The successful Vinos Wine Film Festival is coming to Whistler’s 16th annual celebration of food and wine, Cornucopia, from November 7 to 11, 2012.
Inspired by the Sundance Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival, the annual Vinos Wine Film Festival features films made by amateur and professional filmmakers alike, all about BC wine. Compiled from the most exciting videos of the festival over the years, Cornucopia will host The Best of the Vinos at Cornucopia on Thursday, November 8 from 8:45 PM to 11 PM in the Whistler Conference Centre Sea to Sky Ballroom.
Hosted by CTV’s Jeremy Szafron, this event will feature a screening of the best rated Vino submissions through the three year history of the film festival, paired with BC VQA wines. After the screenings, a people’s choice award will be granted to the top submission based on the loudest audience response. After the show, guests will enjoy more BC VQA wine at the after party with the house D.J. Tickets, $30, are available at www.whistlercornucopia.com/event/best-of-the-vinos or www.winebc.com.
The Best of the Vinos at Cornucopia is supported by the Wines of British Columbia and will feature wine from multiple BC wineries that support the Vinos. “Bringing the Vinos to Whistler during Cornucopia should be a total blast and a great way to tie into the high profile of this festival,” says Vinos founder Glenn Fawcett. “Whistler already has the engagement of the creative community with the annual Whistler Film Festival. We feel that once this group of video and film producers catch wind of the excitement of the Vinos, that it will only serve to raise the bar on the quality of video content that we can attract for the 4th Annual Vinos event in 2013.”
BC Wine Institute executive director Miles Prodan is excited to have more BC VQA wines at Cornucopia. “These films showcase the best of BC wines and wineries and bring viewers into the vineyards and tasting rooms of British Columbia,” says Prodan. “We hope to bring the wine country experience to all the viewers.”
