BC Wine Institute and Tourism BC Release Comprehensive 2012 British Columbia Winery Touring Guide

May 16, 2012 / by: Darren

May 16, 2012, (Kelowna, BC) – The BC Wine Institute (BCWI) and Tourism BC, as part of the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation, have partnered to release the definitive British Columbia Winery Touring Guide, just in time for your wine country vacation planning!

Unlike the majority of wine touring maps in the market, the 2012 BC Winery Touring Guide offers the complete list of wineries, including grape, fruit, cider, etc. around the province. “Prior to the release of the 2012 BC Winery Touring Guide, tourists had the daunting task of sorting through countless wine tour maps from various regions in province to determine which one suited their needs or to get the full picture. Even then, most didn’t offer a full listing of wineries in that area,” notes BC Wine Institute Marketing Director Maggie Anderson. “The BC Winery Tour Guide is the only wine map in the province that provides a complete listing of wineries in the province regardless of location or association membership.”

The BC Wine Institute was extremely pleased to be able to partner with Tourism BC on this initiative to ensure that the guide offered inclusive winery listings for all five of BC’s designated wine regions and gave tourists all the information they need to create a Super, Natural® wine country experience.

“From intimate, family-run vineyards on Vancouver Island to magnificent estate wineries in the Okanagan, B.C. haslots to offer wine enthusiasts,” said Pat Bell, Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation. “Our partnership with the BC Wine Institute allows us to promote our vineyards and wineries as great additions to any touring vacation, which is one of the key tourism products featured in our new provincial tourism strategy.”

The 2012 BC Winery Touring Guide is available now at Visitor Centres and BC VQA Wine Stores across the province. In addition, the guide is available through the 1 800 HelloBC call centre, online through HelloBC.com’s free travel guide order page (https://www5.hellobc.com/brochures/) and as a download in both digital and printed formats.

About the BC Wine Institute (BCWI)

Since 1990, the BCWI has played a pivotal role in taking BC’s wine industry from a vision to an internationally recognized niche region producing premium wines and providing quality wine tourism experiences.

Representing 128 member wineries throughout the province, the BCWI supports and markets the Wines of British Columbia (BC VQA), which gives consumers assurance they are buying a wine that is 100% from BC. The BCWI also markets the Wine Regions of BC; delivers quality trade, media and consumer tastings; and acts as the voice of BC’s wine industry by advocating to government on behalf of its members.
