Election Readiness Town Hall

British Columbia’s provincial election is now underway, and Wine Growers British Columbia is ready with a clear, ambitious, and nonpartisan proposal for every major party: endorse a multi-year BC Wine Growth Strategy to help build the world’s next great wine region and grow our provincial economy.
BC wine already generates $4.13 billion in economic impact, supports 13,656 jobs, and welcomes 1.7 million winery visitors. With the right alignment between government and industry, we can expand markets, bring more visitors and spending to BC, unlock private investment, and strengthen communities across the province.
We will be asking parties to commit to a BC Wine Growth Strategy to:
Grow the market for BC wine through an explicit and measurable LDB plan, better market intelligence, and practical Canadian direct-to-consumer access.
Build wine tourism through a sustained, dedicated wine tourism marketing partnership with Destination BC, beginning at $2 million annually.
Enable investment in productive vineyards, innovation, workforce, capital, and climate-smart business growth.
Name a lead minister, coordinate delivery across government, and report publicly on results.
We will present the same core proposal to all parties. Our immediate focus is high-level platform engagement with party leaders, platform teams, and economic decision-makers, supported by proactive media and targeted local outreach.
We will also give members practical tools to speak directly with candidates in their ridings and demonstrate the economic value of BC wine in their communities.
Become part of this initiative by joining our Election Readiness Town Hall, where we’ll release:
A concise member toolkit with suggested messages, economic proof points, and candidate questions.
A template meeting request and a simple format for reporting candidate responses to WGBC.
An update on party commitments, media activity, and ways to reinforce the campaign locally.
