Celebrating more access to 100% BC wine with the opening of a new Wines of BC Save-On-Foods store in Coquitlam, BC.
CONSUMER ACCESS TO 100% BC WINES GROWS WITH THE OPENING OF A NEW WINES OF BRITISH COLUMBIA SAVE-ON FOODS STORE
British Columbia: Wine Growers British Columbia is thrilled to celebrate the opening of the new Wines of British Columbia Save-On-Foods Sunwood Square store in Coquitlam, offering British Columbians more access to premium 100% BC wine alongside quality BC-grown products.
The Save-on-Foods Sunwood Square opening on September 1, 2022, marks the 22nd ‘Wines of British Columbia Save-on-Foods’ store location in the province. “Coquitlam locals have a new go-to spot to shop for their favourite 100% BC wines,” said Miles Prodan, President & CEO, Wine Growers British Columbia. “This is welcome news as we continuously seek to improve access for British Columbians to the wines grown here in their own backyard.”
The wines offered at Wines of British Columbia Save-On-Foods locations reflect a broad range of wine varietals, styles, and price points from all regions of BC, from both bigger brands, and smaller producers.
“Since the very first opening of a Wines of British Columbia Save-on-Foods store in 2015, we have built strong relationships with local grape growers and wineries throughout the province, and we are thrilled to continue these partnerships and expand our world-class selection of 100% BC crafted wines at our Sunwood Square store location,” said Steve Moriarty, Director, Save-On-Foods. “The new Coquitlam store will proudly and generously showcase Save on Food’s “buy local” agri-foods philosophy, which seamlessly translates into wine and food pairing convenience for today’s consumers.”
The Wines of British Columbia stores represent 7 percent of provincial BC VQA Wine sales – with the largest selection of BC VQA Wines in one place. Some stores stock as many as 1300 100% BC wines; the only way to access more selection is to tour wine country and visit each and every winery.
“The relationship between Save-On-Foods and the Wines of BC Stores just makes sense when you look at the parallels between our respective company’s mission to support local producers and grow a vibrant BC agri-food industry,” said Prodan. “The partnership aligns with values held by British Columbians as well, with many of us looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint, focusing our purchases on locally sourced goods is a natural step to take.”
Wines of British Columbia encourages British Columbians to “swirl BC”, pairing local wine with local fare this fall season. September is Chicken Month in BC, and the best way to celebrate starts with a trip to the local Wines of British Columbia Save-On-Foods store location. This month, make a point of choosing fresh BC raised chicken, perhaps trying a new recipe to experiment with. Wines of BC makes that part easy too, having partnered with award-winning cookbook author Jennifer Schell to deliver a series of recipes and suggested BC wine pairings.
