BRITISH COLUMBIA – Customers of Co-op Wine Spirits Beer stores have an exciting opportunity this month to engage their sense of Canadian pride with Wines of British Columbia through in-store promotions, special offers and tastings encouraging wine lovers to try premium BC VQA Wines and enter to win a BC Wine Country getaway.

Spring flavours abound in Co-op Wine Spirits Beer stores now through March with BC VQA Wine tastings and promotions at 25 stores in Calgary.

“We are excited launch our extensive wine and tourism campaign with Co-op Wine Spirits Beer stores, to promote the depth of variety and authentic quality of BC VQA Wine and our unique wine regions that can be enjoyed year-round,” explains Kim Barnes, BC Wine Institute Marketing Director. “Through the campaign, we invite Calgary wine consumers to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary by enjoying premium award-winning BC VQA – 100 per cent BC wines and support their neighbouring grapegrowers and winemakers.”

In addition, Co-op’s expert sommelier team will include exclusive BC VQA Wine picks in their private locker program allowing subscribers to enjoy a selection of premium BC wines that are usually unavailable on Co-op store shelves.

Customers entering any of the participating Co-op Wine Spirits Beer stores this month will be greeted by BC VQA bottles featuring the Wines of British Columbia’s contest entry details to win a 4 day, 3 night BC Wine vacation for two in the Okanagan Valley.

Boasting 84 per cent of the total vineyard acreage in the province, the Okanagan Valley is BC’s largest grapegrowing region. An ever-changing panorama, the Okanagan Valley stretches more than 250 kilometres, across distinct sub-regions, each with different soil and climate conditions suited to a growing range of grape varieties.

Now through March 31, 2017, Alberta residents can enter to win online at winebc.com/contest – no purchase necessary.

The in-store tastings and contest coincide with Big Taste Calgary from March 3 through 12, inviting wine enthusiasts to enjoy BC VQA Wine pairings with avant-garde cuisine from top restaurants around the city.

“We are thrilled to once again be a sponsor of this can’t-miss culinary celebration,” says Barnes. “It’s an excellent opportunity for consumers to experience the versatility of 100 per cent BC wine paired with various styles of cuisine, made from local ingredients prepared by some of Calgary’s favourite restaurants.”

Have a taste of Canada’s own paradise. BC VQA – it’s closer than you think.
